Interdisciplinary training
The Training in Interdisciplinary Partnerships & Services (TIPS) for Kids is a partnership between the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the School of Medicine and the Institute for Human Development at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. This is Missouri’s Leadership in Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program funded by a grant from the Maternal Child Health Bureau. This initiative provides intensive training for advanced graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in interdisciplinary, family-centered care for children with special health care needs. The following disciplines participate in the grant both as faculty and as trainees:
- Health management and informatics
- Nursing
- Occupational therapy
- Physical therapy
- Psychology
- Social work
- Speech and language pathology
- Pediatric medicine
The Thompson Center has supported partial funding for a post-doctoral fellow to participate in this program and to obtain supplemental training in clinical practice and autism research.
