This is a short-term clinic-based service for young children (ages 18 months through 8 years) that provides developmental assessments of skills and behaviors, along with short-term consultation and training, and development of an intervention plan.
Individual Needs Typically Addressed
- Between the ages of 18 months and 8 years
- Diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other neurodevelopmental disorder
- Behavioral, developmental and/or communication needs that limit access to natural environments
Typical Services Provided
- Assess skills across developmental levels and evaluate specific skill deficits (including behavioral, communication, adaptive, etc.)
- Assesses and identify function of behavior, develop an initial intervention plan for improving specific skill areas and reducing problem behaviors
- Provide training and short term consultation and follow up for parents and other care providers
- This service is a bridge between diagnosis and entry into community based intervention (EIBI)
Key Components of Plan for Developmental Intervention Service
- Comprehensive interview prior to visit
- Extensive initial evaluation and recommendations
- Approximately 10 hours of clinic based follow up sessions, including ongoing progress reports
- Additional follow up sessions may be arranged
- Assessments may include and/or produce: functional analysis, structural analysis, current skills across developmental domains
