The Thompson Center offers a variety of therapy services that empower our patients to develop skills that support their independence and well-being.
Speech-Language Pathology
At the Thompson Center, we offer speech-language therapy services through a collaborative partnership with the MU Health Care Children’s Therapy Center. Our team of experienced speech-language pathologists specializes in providing comprehensive and tailored services for children with autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions. Our speech-language pathologists work closely with each individual to address communication difficulties and promote language development. Through evidence-based interventions and personalized care, we aim to empower children to effectively communicate, enhancing their overall well-being and quality of life.

Speech-Language Therapy
The comprehensive speech-language therapy services at the Thompson Center focus on individualized skill development for children and young adults with autism or other neurodevelopmental conditions. Sessions may focus on speech skills such as speech sound acquisition and motor speech production, including articulation and speech intelligibility. Sessions may also focus on language skills, including understanding and using language as well as development of social interaction and social communication skills. The Thompson Center has speech-language therapy services available for patients ages 1-18 years. Sessions are scheduled for 45 minutes each. The number and frequency of appointments are determined by the individual needs of the patient.

Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy services are available at the Thompson Center through a partnership with the MU Health Care Children’s Therapy Center. Occupational therapists at the Thompson Center specialize in providing services for children with autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions.

Physical Therapy
While the Thompson Center does not offer standalone physical therapy services, many of our specialty clinics include a physical therapist on the multidisciplinary care team.
